THRIVE
You’re warmly invited to join us at THRIVE women’s group.
Our goal is to be firmly grounded Jesus-followers. Together.
If you’re asking questions, this is a safe place to do it.
If you’re growing, or trying to find desire to grow—whatever season you’re in—you’ll be welcome.

About us
Welcome to THRIVE women’s group. We’re glad you found us.
We meet on the first & third Wednesdays of the month.
We go from 6:30pm–8:30pm.
Please come at 6:15pm for a mug of tea or coffee (decaf, but it’s Kicking Horse so it’s all good).
When we meet, we spend time studying God’s Word—asking questions like “What
does it say?” “What does it mean?” “What does it mean for my life?”
We enjoy discussing what we find.
This year we’ll be using journals to capture thoughts from home study, as well as points
shared during group discussion and a brief talk.
We’ve built in time for personal application and for singing together, as a way to
respond to what we encounter.
The snack & chat time that follow allow us to keep track of each other’s lives (it can get
lonely in the Valley!).
We finish our evening praying for each other—taking our praises and prayers to the
One who is able to make changes in our lives and in the lives of people we love.
-------------------------------------
If you’re interested in specifics, our year begins with a study called “Bedrock” and then
moves to a study called “A Ransom for Many.”
“Bedrock” is what it sounds like: foundational!
We’ll go to verses in our Bibles that give us firm footing on what’s true.
So many voices these days; it’s noisy, yes? (What’s “true”?)
Jesus, before he went to the cross, was talking to his Father God. He was praying for his
followers, present and future. This was his ask, in John 17:17—“Sanctify them by the
truth; your word is truth.”
God’s Word is truth. We stand firm when we build our lives on it. In personal or cultural
storms, we’re on solid ground.
Jesus gives us a graphic image of this “solid” principle in a gritty parable we can picture.
He ends his lengthy Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5, 6 & 7) with it:
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man
who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds
blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the
rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a
foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came,
and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
(Matthew 7:24-27)
We start the year leaning in to hear Jesus’ words, boots on the ground.
-----
We’ll build on this foundation in the spring when we move to our next study: the
gospel of Mark, chapters 10-13.
Here we see Jesus. Jesus, the cornerstone of our faith, is in action for us, making His
way to Jerusalem and to the cross.
The study is called “A Ransom for Many,” keying off the theme verse in the book of
Mark: “For even the Son of Man [Jesus] did not come to be served, but to serve, and to
give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45)
We’ll do a lot of group discussion as we observe, interpret and apply life-giving verses.
-------------------------------------
We’re praying for you; that you’ll come pull up a chair around one of our tables.
We would love to have you.
